2025 Annual Meeting Highlights
MOA’s 2025 Annual Meeting
On Wednesday, May 21st, MOA held its annual meeting at the Massachusetts Medical Society in Waltham.
Presentations included: AAOS update from our Board of Councilors, Scope of Practice, CMS Changes, Panels on Trauma Plasty and Young Patients with Hip Pain. Also, an update on what is happening legislatively both at the Federal level and in Massachusetts.
MOA Elects New Officers
MOA elected surgeon members Scott Ryan, MD (Tufts Medical Center) to serve as President and Steven Leckie, MD (Plymouth Bay Orthopedics) as Vice President.
Outgoing President Amna Diwan, MD Recognized for her Leadership
On behalf of the Assocation's members and its Board, thank you Dr. Diwan for your leadership, dedication, and commitment to your colleagues during your Presidency. Dr. Diwan has tirelessly advocated for physicians and the practice of medicine. During her tenure she played an active role in advocating to endure that MOA’s collective voice was heard in both the State House and in Washington, DC.
R. Scott Oliver, MD Honored with the
2025 Orthopaedist Lifetime Achievement Award
Our profession and the Association are privileged to have benefitted from Dr. Scott’s contributions, and his leadership within the Orthopaedic Community. MOA is proud to honor him for his outstanding achievements and contributions.
Research Abstracts
MOA held its Annual Orthopaedic Research Abstract competition. Massachusetts orthopaedic residents and medical students were invited to submit their work.
MOA’s selection process was guided by a commitment to showcasing a diverse array of research. To honor as many contributions as possible, 6 were selected for oral presentation and 17 for poster presentation.

Gabriella Schreiner, Tufts University School of Medicine, received the award for her research presentation: Remplissage is a Cost-Effective Treatment for a Hill-Sachs Lesion During a Primary Arthroscopic Bankart Repair
Research Poster Award
Nathan Sherman, MD, MGH, received the award for his poster presentation: Grade III and IV Glenohumeral Chondral Does Not Portend Worse Patient Reported Outcomes at 2 Years after Rotator Cuff Repair
