ABOUT MOA

The Massachusetts Orthopaedic Association is the only statewide organization representing orthopaedic surgeons in the Commonwealth. We represent the surgeons interests at the State House, Government Agencies, Regulatory Bodies and within the Insurance industry. The MOA focuses on the socio-economic issues affecting their practice, profession and their ability to care for their patients.

The Association conducts educational programs related to legislative, regulatory and insurance issues on the local and national level. We offer continuing education programs on clinical procedures and studies, risk management and practice management subjects to update physicians and provide them with the credits they need for licensure renewal.

MOA HISTORY

The MOA was formed to address the socio-economic issues involved in the practice of orthopaedic surgery and continues to have that as its main focus. The vast majority of our activities are devoted to practice management issues. Historically, the MOA mission hasn’t changed. Issues of worker’s compensation, liability reform, insurance company problems, reimbursements for Medicaid and Medicare, Scope of Practice continue to be at the forefront of the work of the Association.
